What is Dry Mouth?

Dry mouth, or xerostomia, is the sensation that there is not enough saliva (spit) to keep your mouth moist. While everyone feels parched occasionally—usually due to dehydration or stress—chronic dry mouth occurs when your salivary glands don't produce enough saliva to function normally which can affect your teeth, gums and digestion.
